On Wednesday August 3rd 2012, the NB210200 was given name “Kindral Kurvits” by the first Lady of Estonia mrs. Evelin Ilves. The vessel was handed over by Työvene to the Estonian Police and Border Patrol Board just minutes earlier.
The project was delivered in time and within budget. It is a true showcase of Työvene’s ability to deliver high quality and technically advanced projects in short time. It can be said that this ship is the culmination of all the “knowhow” and experience Työvene has from building several similar, extremely complicated multipurpose vessels in the recent years.
Kindral Kurvits will be based in Tallinn and will operate in the Baltic sea with border control and surveillance as its main duties. It will also be able to rapidly react to oil spills and other rescue operations at sea.
The ship's hull and machinery are dimensioned and built for demanding ice conditions, which allows for true year round operation.
